To be honest, Charlotte Fresh was going to take a rest and not post today, but I can’t resist getting the word out. I’ll keep it short and sweet.
As you read last week, Matthews Community Farmers’ Market is now open on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm. Let’s continue to give them some support and keep this midweek market going strong! The more love we show, the more vendors we get, the better for all.
The June 16th headliners are expected to be sweet corn (weather permitting) from Big Oaks Natural Farm and sungold tomatoes from Fisher Farms. If you haven’t experienced a sungold, you’ve been missing out. Below is a picture of sungolds from my veggie garden a couple of years ago. They’re the little orangey cherry tomatoes at the bottom of the picture. (Ignore my stubby carrots.)
Baucom’s Best is a new addition to the Wednesday vendor lineup – get your grass-fed beef or pastured chicken! As usual, there will also be other produce, blackberries, bread, pastries, baked treats, flowers, soap, pottery and much, much more available! (I think I’ll be having a broccoli-stuffed pastry for lunch from Down Home Baking Co.)
The popular Share the Harvest donations program will also be running on Wednesdays so there are more opportunities to donate and to provide food to help out the Matthews HELP Center food pantry. Please look out for the donation coolers.
Come on down to the Matthews market today to support your local farmers and pick up some terrific items for lunch or dinner! (Perfect timing, the kids are out of school!)
See you there!
